You've got a serious talent with words and images and creating something dark and yet strangely beautiful. I think I've read everything on your blog several times over. Well, from the other side of the pond and from one functional junkie to another I wish you well!

JDJDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18139914692870655893noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9193316819499446317.post-59241585973617940552015-11-23T17:32:15.684+01:002015-11-23T17:32:15.684+01:00it really is cruel the way one feels after a junk ...it really is cruel the way one feels after a junk break when the sickness starts to leave your body , and you feel some health and viatality return , and the beautiful intensity of life and all its smells and colours and emotions come pushing in ,
but like you said its the intensity of all these things that once upon a time pushed us in the junk direction to begin with

Add to that when the first twitch of unease comes from the onset of withdrawals or when the slightest of anxieties creep up and poof !! the elation and enlightenment dissappear and give way to a hungry seeking mentalityoyzzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08682038053731394093noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9193316819499446317.post-59405296536627282662015-11-21T21:23:42.442+01:002015-11-21T21:23:42.442+01:00Just came back and read this after a couple of day...Just came back and read this after a couple of days of it loitering on my toolbar. Maybe some people can't even cope with good reality for long.

The Spring stuff was really well delineated and evocative. Spring and Autumn are always the best – the times of change before the same old same old.

The word Menthol seems to some it up. I used to love Menthol cigarettes – the green tip as well as the cool freshness. Hmm: Menthol/Methadone, both green. I used to see junkies drinking their little cup's worth and think: I bet that tastes really good. I bet a lot of children have OD'd on it.

The comments page for Lines for Joe M didn't work but it's just as easy to mention it here.

I got one of the lines you suggested! One out of two ain't bad.

This one:

...the kind of cheap plastic rubbish which make children cry on opening them.

(Just thought of a slight edit: '...which makes children's eyes weep on opening them' – thus 'them' could be the toys OR the eyes – implying the child shut his/her eyes thinking he/she was getting an extra special surprise).

More lines:

The smell of dustbins and refuse drifted out the damp front yards. And even that was a pleasure.

The newsagent's, the ink of their gossip barely dry

They rattled and buzzed and crashed into one another, and in a very particular way, horrified me.

There were too many things in this world which the spring could not cleanse, things so unnatural and manufactured that they were beyond the touch of nature or weather fronts

Yes, tomorrow would be here so slow and so soon and with it, up on up, the Devil would rise in me again and spring upon the spring once more.

'Next post will be a little lighter: a leaving letter to my landlord'.

I didn't actually find this bleak. It was mostly very uplifting.

Can't wait for the leaving letter!

I've written so many leaving letters in my head over the decades...JoeMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03821025539339799036noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9193316819499446317.post-72428011466256167672015-11-19T03:11:41.567+01:002015-11-19T03:11:41.567+01:00hell, where do you get these words from? in my eye...hell, where do you get these words from? in my eyes (and many others it seems) you are the greatest living writer we have. cant wait for the next one.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
